Anime Sports this weekend! It's going to be a great (not too big, but great anyway) con, I can't wait! I've decided to cosplay as Hinata (from Naruto, yep, non-Shippuuden) again, and to perform a free-style skit full of jokes and videogame / TV / soup opera references, mwahaha! Just you wait! Unfortunately I was not able to make a sports-related costume in time. Maybe for another edition!

Oh, and good news keep arriving at "real life", ohohoho! Wish me luck!

It's mid October already, whoa! Time really goes fast when we don't have deadlines to concentrate on. I've been working day after day during weekdays, and enjoying the weekends. Nothing fantastic.

AniParana is next week, but I can't attend it, unfortunately. I'm cheering for my friends and/or fellow cosplayers who can, though. I really hope it'll be a great con, so it can happen every year! An anime con's first edition is always surrounded by doubt, isn't it?

My next con is going to be Anime Sports, mid November. Unless some emergency arrives, this one is guaranteed, yay! I'm still deciding what cosplay I should wear, since I want something comfortable... and if I dress as Eureka ONE MORE TIME within the next months, I think I'll go crazy! x_x

I was thinking on a new costume, but... no simple, comfortable projects listed right now. Well, there's one, but that one I want to make customizing normal clothes, minimal sewing involved. And the clothes I need are so simple, but I DON'T FIND THEM ANYWHERE. And I see people on the streets wearing exactly what I'm looking for, what's even more frustrating.

Oh, well, maybe I'll revive THAT cosplay...

Random facts about cosplay and stuff:

- I think every cosplayer has his/her own "future cosplays" list. And it's divided into "planning to make soon", "maybe someday", and "I would like it, but probably nah". My list has about 15 characters.

- The difference between a Traditional cosplay skit and a Free-style cosplay skit had always been clear: the first one had to keep things in-character, using elements from the character's universe; the second one could make use of crossovers, external references, and random nonsense. Now some contests want to keep context for Free-style skits. I agree that Free-style skits should always keep the link with the cosplay's origins, BUT the thin line between "allowed" and "prohibited" is not so clear anymore.

- Mom was thinking that my next cosplay was only for July, 2010, when there's a lot of cons coming for the second semester. Should I just smile at her misunderstanding, or should I feel guilty for involving her in so many cosplay projects? x_x It doesn't matter which cosplay I make, Mom always gets involved, even when she's tired, and I love her help. Is it a bad thing? T_T

- Speaking of cons, the calendar is kinda unstable around here. Some cons are being delayed because of all the swine flu hysteria; others are being planned behind the curtains, and they mean business. Well, I'm going to enjoy this week's con 10 minutes from home, and... wait?

- Japanese Pop Culture Week happening in my city has been featured on TV! And I was there, illustrating what cosplay is. I was dressed as Mia, since it's a cute, simple, easy to put on, mispelling-proof costume. I felt kind of unoriented by the TV staff (looking at the camera or looking at the show host? Standing still or doing a pose?), but all went well.

EDIT: I really should make my cosplays way before the con, not during the last two months or less before the debut. But I just can't! XD Besides, starting a costume too earlier scares Mom a lot! XD Dad helps a lot, too, with some props, but he seems to have some real fun when he helps! *engineer soul*

Well, YCC 2009 is over, and the prelims for YCC 2010 are already running! The first finalist is "Maozinha", from World Cosplay Summit 2009 Brazil Team (the guy dressed as Alphonse Elric).

I would love to be one of the finalists again, but I'm exausted from making Eureka (a little too complex for my personal cosplay standards), and there's too many good cosplayers trying their best. Oh, well, gotta cheer for my friends, too! One day, if I'm lucky enough, I can be there again! XD

Well, for the next months, I have two cons in mind to attend. The first one is Wasabi Show, here in my city. The second one is AniParana, about four hours north from here by car/bus. AniParana will host a YCC 2010 prelim, or so they say. I'm probably taking Eureka with me for both. Day #2 cosplays for both cons are still to be decided.

Then there's Anime Sports, also north from here. They mix an anime con with actual sports. I don't know If I can attend this one, but I'm willing to try. I wish I had a sports-based cosplay.
